it's insane how bad of a person bruce can be in some of the comics.

ig bruce is such a hard character to write good that dc themselves can't do it 😔/j

i feel like they keep making bruce a bad father because they keep hiring writers who don't know him like at all nor the core values of someone with a good heart. like yeah humans make mistakes, but you know what heroes that people should look up to don't do?? beat their children, harm their children, belittle their children, etc etc. i think batman's most valuable trait should be the gentleness in which he treats children, especially his own. give me a Bruce who is so nervous about his kids doing anything that his flaw is him being overprotective, not *abusive.* because an abusive Batman is not Batman, and he's not a hero. if he is written as an abusive person, then he is no longer written as a hero. they can't have it both ways!!

love the idea of jayvik having kids and they're expecting the kids to look like jayce because the talis genes are strong but when the first little boy comes out with big hazel/gold eyes and moles and a soft, round face jayce realizes that he would die happily if the kids all came out looking like the love of his life

and then their son grows up and he's the spitting image of a young viktor (ximena swears that he's got jayce's smile and her father's nose, but jayce isn't fully convinced) and jayce sees them sitting together by the fireplace one night, viktor's gentle, lilting accent carrying above the dull roar of the fire as he reads to their son, and jayce just breaks down over how lucky he is

The landscape of vigilantism and superheroism is forever shifting and changing. People die, get resurrected, betray their ideals, change their morals, go from hero to criminal to anti-hero, redeem themselves before death, it is impossible to keep track of everyone’s allegiances and fluctuating morals.

The only person able to keep all of that information straight, is Batman. He’s the only one who bothers to try. Everyone else relies on his files, the details and connections he makes sure to document, to leaf through. New people join every day and Batman learns as much about them as he possibly can.

There’s a day in the future when Bruce looks around at all the new faces in the Justice League, all of the new teams that feed into its recruitment, The Titans, Young Justice, The Outlaws, ect and realizes that his world has changed. His children are the structure of the vigilante/hero scene. He was a scaffold, allowing them to reach their potential where they would settle into place and become the structural supports for the rest of the community.

But there will always be a piece of Bruce that misses the beginning. When things were simpler and he was just settling into the League he was creating. When the faces went from new to familiar and hadn’t yet reached complicated. Some people called them the golden years or the good ol’ days, but Bruce couldn’t name them. He just missed the beginning when he hadn’t known the end.

And before anyone knows it, even Batman is gone. Finally passed on. And no one is able to recreate what he did, who he was. The way he held things together.

Instead, his children share the role. They serve as the points of contact between so many interrelated and unconnected teams. They are the bridges of communication, of sharing intel, of laying inroads. No one man keeps track of what Batman was able to, but together, his children carry on his legacy.

Personally I want the Ody3 outed to Brooke not because Tristan is jealous of Max but because Max is jealous of Tristan. I want Brooke to clock the Avery jealousy and weirdness and correctly deduce “ah they had a thing” and then in a future episode Tristan has a moment with Avery and Max gets a bit riled up and Brooke again correctly deduces “oh Max reciprocated the Avery thing huh”

And then Tristan has a moment with Viv/Spence/Passenger-of-the-week and Max is also upset about that and Brooke has a lightbulb moment like “OH this is SO much messier than I assumed”.

Orla’s liberation comes at the price of the merc’s. The further they entrench themself into being used as an implement for her to use to her ends, the more divorced they become to themself (though, even that’s a bit complicated. Who is the merc without Orla? Her guiding hand. Her crook shepherding. Her word governing.) She’s building her empire; the merc’s shoveling their grave. But at the same time, her empire doesn’t necessarily guarantee her own (true) freedom and is, in fact, a kind of gilded cage in its own right. You painstakingly build yourself a palace behind enemy lines, with all the luxuries you can scrounge together. Give yourself every comfort, loud music to drown out whatever ghosts you’re still trying to outrun, good sex, good food, people who will jump to murder for you without blinking an eye… yet it’s difficult to truly allow yourself to relish in any of it for more than a couple fleeting moments when you know there are serpents slithering just right outside the gates. Doesn’t matter how much you fortify your house of cards, it can still all come crumbling down with a gust of wind. And what then? One king (queen) deposes another, Vapolis continues on. No one will mourn. Orla knows this. Orla is terrified by this.
